LAVENDER MARANS PROJECT

The Lavender Marans are a project that has been a labour of love for me. I started them in 2015 by crossing a lavender orpington hen with a BCM cock. Then it was just a matter of crossing back and again to BCM many times to finally achieve a standard close to marans and also egg colour that would earn them the right to be called Marans. Those attributes aside, I have to say the best thing about them is their endearing friendly nature. Loveable and absolutely no aggression even in cockerels. I just added a second cock to the pen and there was zero issues between the two. You can’t ask for more than that. Fertility and hatchability are both excellent and the size of eggs from second year hens is huge (about 70 grams). I’m incredibly proud of these birds and I know anyone who has them will come to love them the same way. This year I will be offering eggs from Isabel cockerel over split hens. This means you will hatch approximately 50/50 Isabel and split chicks.

PRICING: $10 per EGG, $20 CHICK (unsexed)
